car accident
it's weird...i've been thinking about my car accident today.
it happened two summers ago. my hubby and i were on our way to a gig. i was napping and he was driving. i remember he woke me up to see the sunset and how it bothered me to wake up from such a sweet nap. i did open my eyes and it was amazing. colors all over the sky, so extraordinary.. and then my thought and feelings changed to warmth and i thought he was sweet to share that with me. i went right back to sleep. then, we were hit, not even 10 minutes after that moment (i found out later). i woke up in the hospital and couldn't open my eyes and was sick. When i opened my eyes i saw Matt, and he said we were hit by a truck, that it hit my door and crushed me. he thought i wasn't going to make it. no way, i thought. that stuff doesn't happen to me. to us.
i experienced a hemorraging in my brain (that soon stopped on its own) and broken back and clavicle and so much vertigo. i feel embarrased telling you all of this (you know how people can go on and on about their injuries and pain). whatever! the point is, it was all an amazing experience for me. i healed. completely. yes, it was traumatic, but what i remember most is how loved and safe i am in the world. Matt was beyond beautiful and was so nurturing and so kind and so sweet. All my family and friends and fans showed themselves as just pure love walking around me. it was overwhelming.
i feel so blessed to be alive. it's a strange and humbling feeling to think that my life could have been completed that day. i guess it's not complete! good.
the music that comes into my life has definitely been affected by that summer. i still get gestures in my body of what it has been through and believe it to be a strong and loving force. all our bodies are:)
i guess i wanted to tell you what happened. i don't talk about it much b/c the big picture is...it doesn't matter. really. maybe i hope it will inspire me today and make me breathe deep.
thank you for all your love in my life.
see you at the shows!
Love,Gina
