learning went down in NYC
Whoa- I learned a lot last night at my NYC show. I am drawn to share it with you, you know, since we are the same. So, i learned that when i force my energy it doesn't feel good. there were people talking while i was singing and i took it personally and it didn't match my expectations of how the night would go. I wanted to love up everyone in the room and when i couldn't get through to them i got upset. i realize now that it really doesn't matter. it's that persons choice to open to me or not and that is very cool. i can still love them anyway. so, i sang to those in the room that were open sesame to me and just let the chatty ones be. i sang "strength" as the last song and kinda did it for me- i needed some healing up there, it was hard and i was choosing who i am- raw. yeah. so, i sang and gave it all and didn't force a thing, i let it all drop, nothing to expect from anyone. i felt fragile after the show and then.... a homeless man approached me at the stage and kept saying, "Strength" and smiled at me. he said he saw me in the window and came in and just heard that song. he said it overwhelmed him. he got me. so this is why, i thought. this is bigger than me and how i think things are supposed to be. i gave him CDs and he searched his pockets for something for me, he said. he handed me a little wire bicycle he made and it sat in my palm and then i was overwhelmed. we both gave eachother something we made. i told him i was supposed to sing "strength" for him. well, us both. i never would have expected that moment. i just had to share this with you. it feels freeing to be in eachothers journeys. you're with me. i'm looking at his gift right now and it's way bigger than he thinks. love, gina
